MCHS Participates in Comcast Care Days

A celebration of giving back

Now in its 18th year, Comcast Cares Day is one of the largest corporate commitments to volunteerism and service in America.  Madison County High School participate in this year’s event Friday, April 26.  Comcast tradition engaged the Cowboys to volunteers to help strengthen the Madison community.

First of all students from clubs, organization, and individual classes began sprucing up its own high school.   Future Farmers of America (FFA) did a “curb appeal” by sprucing up the entrance way to the school by landscaping and trimming of bushes and plants—making that first impression a lasting one.  Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) placed new planters with flowers at the front of each entrance of the school, and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) removed washed-up sand from the sidewalk, cleaned all the walks, and washed all the windows in the cafeteria.   High School High Tech and Ms. Block’s Access Students, planted an herb garden and potted tomato plants.

Ms. Presley’s Journalism and English Literature classes wrote letters to veterans of the Wounded Warrior Project, while the Cowboy’s Cheerleaders visited the elementary students of Madison County Central School and read to the children.  HOSA-Future Health Professionals visited Madison Health and Rehab Center volunteered to play games and take the elderly outside strolls in the morning, while Mrs. Hicks Drama Class wrote letters to the elderly and read them at the nursing home.

The Beta Club headed by Mrs. Griffin, made boxes to collect library books and students also delivered free books to all the school libraries, county library, and a local laundry mat in Madison.

Comcast company-wide celebration of Comcast Cares Day happens Saturday, May 4, 2019, and hundreds of projects will take place between April and mid-May.
