Teacher:  Mrs. Monica Dyke, RN

Madison County High School allied Health Assisting program is a very unique program where students are immersed into the health career field to learn skills necessary for success In the medical workplace.  Students receive very detailed instruction in basic health care, terminology and lab activities.  These Lab activities are an integral part of this program.

These activities include instruction in the use of safety procedures, tools, equipment, materials, and processes related to these occupations.

During their senior year and upon turning 18 years of age after completion of the three year program, students can register to challenge the Certified Nursing Assistant examination and be CNA certified upon successfully passing the examination.  Nurse Dyke was excited about the recent inspection by Jane Holiday, Prometric Testing Center, “We have been approved for CNA testing on site for Madison County High School.”

Mr. Avery Holton stated that: “CNAs are valuable and are usually the first line of defense, the reason being they have worked with patients more.  So it is a great idea to go for your CNA license because the course is fun and it’s great for your resume when because you have experience.”  Dyke mentioned that “CNAs take on a very serious job.  It takes hard work and determination.  That’s why when I sign them up, I make sure that they are ready.  From past experience, my past year students a long with some of this year’s kids have been great worker in the workforce.

Dyke manages these programs and also provides certifications in Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for her first and second year students.
